Wound Care Center

Healing Wounds is Our Specialty

Advanced Care for Wounds that Won't Heal

The St. Mark's Medical Center Wound Care Center specializes in treating wounds that resist healing after conventional treatment. We are the region's first and only wound care center with nationally recognized services and specialists. Our multidisciplinary team is skilled in the latest treatment options, designed with our patients and their families in mind.

We will assess your symptoms, determine the underlying cause of your non-healing wound and customize the most effective treatment plan to stimulate healing.

Types of Wounds We Treat:

  • Diabetic ulcers, including foot ulcers
  • Arterial and venous ulcers
  • Pressure sores
  • Skin lacerations
  • Gangrene
  • Radiation burns
  • Compromised skin grafts and flaps
  • Post-operative wounds and infections
  • Bone infection (osteomyelitis)
  • Traumatic injuries

Innovative Treatment Options

  • Debridement, a minor procedure that removes dead tissue, preventing infection and producing a healthy base for the tissue to regenerate
  • Specialized antimicrobal and compression dressings, to prevent and treat infection, decrease swelling, and promote the growth of healthy tissue
  • Pressure relief, or "off-loading," with physical aids such as custom orthopedic shoes, splints, casts, crutches, walkers, or wheelchairs
  • Nutritional counseling, to promote healing with adequate levels of nutrients
  • Antibiotic therapy and antibacterial ointments
  • X-rays, blood cultures, and other laboratory and vascular studies

Additional Convenient Service Coordination

  • Other providers, including home health care, primary care and specialty care
  • Transportation to and from the Wound Center
