St. Mark's Medical Center Welcomes Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Jonathan Blake
Release date: February 7, 2022
La Grange, TX - St. Mark's Medical Center (SMMC) is pleased to introduce Dr. Jonathan Blake, DO, to its growing team of professionals.
Dr. Blake is a board certified orthopedic surgeon with more than 20 years of general orthopedic surgery experience. He will begin seeing patients of all ages in SMMC Orthopedics on March 1, 2022. Dr. Blake enjoys treating athletes, patients with aging joints or other common orthopedic problems, including in the hands.
Since 2013, Dr. Blake treated patients at Jerseyville Community Hospital in Jerseyville, Illinois. Prior to that position, he served at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and in an orthopedic practice in Kansas City, Missouri.
"We are thrilled to have Dr. Blake join our team," said Mark Kimball, President and CEO of St. Mark's Medical Center. "He brings a strong work ethic and a wealth of experience with veterans and in rural health care," Kimball continued.
"I enjoy seeing patients in the clinic setting and offering treatment options to help provide them relief from pain and discomfort, as well as maximize their mobility to do the activities they enjoy," said Dr. Blake.
Raised and educated in Missouri, Dr. Blake graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Health Sciences -- College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, MO. He interned at the Park Lane Medical Center in Kansas City and completed his residency at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.
Dr. Blake has always enjoyed working with his hands and has demonstrated a high level of achievement throughout his life, including earning Eagle Scout. While growing up, he pursued opportunities that helped others, which has continued in his calling as an orthopedic surgeon.
"I worked in a local hardware store in my youth," said Dr. Blake, "so I was around people who wanted to fix things and I enjoyed helping them. It was from there that I started a house painting business that I continued throughout college and with Aimee, my wife of over 30 years."
Dr. Blake and Aimee are empty nesters relocating from Illinois to enjoy a milder climate. With a son studying at TCU in Fort Worth, the Blakes get the added benefit of now being closer to him. The Blakes also have two other adult children and two grandchildren, who they look forward to having visit them in Texas.
"We are excited about joining the community and getting to know our neighbors," continued Dr. Blake. "I also hope to reactivate my pilot's license and get back to flying."
The Blakes are avid travelers within the US and world-wide; in their free time, they also enjoy physical fitness activities such as tennis, CrossFit and weight lifting.
To make an appointment with Dr. Blake in the La Grange or Bastrop St. Mark's Orthopedics offices, please call 979-242-2387.
