Lori Berger Retires from St. Mark's Medical Center Board
La Grange, TX - Lori Berger, longtime area civic leader and business woman, has retired from the St. Mark's Medical Center (SMMC) board after nine years of service.
Ms. Berger's first involvement with hospital leadership was as a member of the Fayette Memorial Hospital Foundation that raised money to help build a state of the art hospital -- St. Mark's Medical Center. In 2012, she was appointed to the SMMC board and has seen significant growth during her term.
"It is an honor to have served on the board that governs St. Mark's Medical Center," said Ms. Berger. "Seeing St. Mark's triumph and growth during adversity has been very rewarding. I attribute the hospital's success to the ongoing collaboration of the Board, Medical Staff and hospital employees."
Ms. Berger has also served on the Flatonia City Council as Mayor Pro Tem, Mayor of the City of Flatonia, St. Mark's Medical Center Foundation, and on the Lower Colorado River Authority Board.
"On behalf of the SMMC Board of Directors, I can confidently say that we will miss Lori's serving heart and passion for improving our community," said Dudley Piland, SMMC Board Chairman. "We are extremely appreciative of her contributions and know that she will continue to be a valuable advocate for continuing to expand healthcare access to our community. I look forward to keeping the momentum going with whoever takes her place."
"I've enjoyed working with Lori and appreciated her help as I've acclimated to my role this past year at SMMC," said Mark Kimball, President and CEO of SMMC. "She leaves a strong legacy and a solid foundation to build upon."
Ms. Berger is the current owner of the Wine Haus Restaurant in Flatonia and looks forward to spending more time with her two sons, Travis and Wade; daughter, Erin; their spouses; and her six grandchildren.
