The Medical/Surgical Unit at St. Mark’s Medical Center provides care for patients of all ages, while recovering from illness or surgery.
The unit offers both semi-private and private rooms, and were designed with a quiet, restful décor, comfortable furnishings and other amenities to speed your recovery. We work to keep you safe in a clean and healthy environment.
SMMC has the commitment of people you know; caring for people you love to give patients the best care possible. We work diligently to provide the physical and emotional care you and your family deserve.
Your health-care team begins with YOU, the patient. You may include a loved one/family member to be a part of your team. Your doctors are part of your team along with our nursing staff of registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses and nurse aides. Other members of your team include nutrition services; lab and imaging services; Physical and Speech Therapy; pharmacy and social services. Your team works together to develop a unique plan of care to fit your individual needs.
When your loved one requires a range of non-acute services from skilled to intermediate care, SMMC offers a Swing-Bed care program. This provides transitional care for patients recovering from surgery, injury, illness or wound care-related needs.
The Med/Surg unit also participates in nursing education through our affiliation with nearby Blinn College in Schulenburg and Brenham, with both the LVN, and LVN to RN transitional programs, and with the Zelda Allen School of Vocational Nursing of Hallettsville.
The Med/Surg staff would consider it an honor and privilege to care for you or your loved one. Please feel free to contact the Med/Surg Department Director, Laurie Quitta, RN.
