St. Mark's Medical Center Named in US Top 100 Rural and Community HospitalsRelease date: 03/09/21
La Grange, TX. - St. Mark's Medical Center (SMMC) was named one of the top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals in the United States by the Chartis Center for Rural Health.
The designation is annually announced by the Chartis Center for Rural Health, a division of the Chartis Group, the nation's largest independent healthcare advisory firm. Scoring is based on the Hospital Strength Index, which assesses performance in eight areas: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge and financial efficiency. "This recognition is a reflection of the amazing effort that our entire team puts forth to provide a quality, healthcare experience for our community and region," said SMMC CEO Mark Kimball. "The past year has been a challenging time for everyone, and our team is committed to ensuring that the community can access needed medical care close to home."
"I am not surprised at this recognition," said SMMC Chief Nursing Officer Tammy Hartfield. "We are fortunate to have compassionate Staff that effectively work together as a team, especially under the most demanding conditions -- from a pandemic to a weather emergency."
